A hidden message behind the song “The wolf, the fox and the weasel” ?

Do you know this old Breton (French) song ?

Well, it is a pretty old one indeed. And the meanings are uncertains…

What is clear, is the second part.
The part about the mare of Michao means that a lady with her child have been too proud and ruined a man.

But what about the first part ?
The part about the three animals who are the wolf, the fox and the weasel ? Well, there are MANY interpretations about this triumvirat… And I was pretty confused about it…

Recently, it came to my mind a possible hidden signification about this trinity.
In fact, an old Auvergnat (French) proverb said :

“The first generation builds the business.
The second generation manages the business.
The third generation destroys the business”.

And in fact :
It is needed to be a wolf to build anything.
It is needed to be a fox to make anything grow.
And the word “weasel” in French, is not as positive as “ermine” (very noble for the French) which can mean there that only a fool destroys the family business…

This proverb is also very true in politics where many people say “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times”.
