It is killing me to say that being zen or using some yoga technics can helps… But yes, use any ways you want to be the more calm possible.
The stress is like an alarm.
Once you get it, put it off. It’s fine, you had the message. No need to repeat it again and again…
Why so many people smoke or drink ? Because they don’t succeed to deal with their stress.
I have anxiety too. But the positive visualisation and the Faith helped me a lot.
Tip number 6 : use the tools you have
Carrying an atomic bomb in the street is not that legal in many countries. So in case of an agression against 1 or many people : what to do ?
Use the tools you have. A pen, a book, a bag, a chair, a stick etc… Anything.
Yell if needed. Even if you use some non-nobles words.
Of course you can have a bag full of self-defence devices. But if you need to run, you might need few things in your bag, to run faster.
Tip number 5 : know what is around you
Your eyes cannot look around like a crazy animal. But your ears can.
So, listen to the maximum.

So yes, indeed, I do not recommend the use of some earplugs for listening some music while you walk in the street. It is dangerous. Same in your car, the listening of some music, can make you not listening some crucial elements.

Your intuition will tell you if an area is calm, uncertain or toxic.
