Well, let’s see the definitions of those three words according to dictionary.com :
The (definition number 4) : used to mark a noun as indicating the best-known, most approved, most important, most satisfying etc… Meaning here “the best”, “the one”, “the legendary”.
Classy (definition) : of high class, rank, or grade; stylish; admirably smart; elegant.
Issue (definition number 2) : something that is printed or published and distributed, especially a given number of a periodical.
So in theory “The classy issue” (we will write now TCI) is a reference media about premium content. But is it true ?
Well, it is an online conceptual magazine who appreciates the words “Fuck” and “Not giving a shit” (pictures of middle fingers included). So yeah, this webzine is not always that classy…
Though “TCI” is a very popular website & Instagram account (655k suscribers nowadays).
So why such a triumph ? Well, there is a recipe behind this. But this recipe… Might be the problems…
The problems about TCI
Problem 1 :
On the recipe of the success of TCI who can notice the use of the “Neuro Linguistic Programming”. How ? By showing pictures making you to have some reactions/emotions (sex, food, humour etc…) and between those pictures… Oh a brand ! What a surprise for a rebel magazine ! Wait… It can be worst than a brand, it can be politics or worst… Way worst…
TCI looks like a modern marketing tool for the teenagers minds… Attracting people with always new and shiny things… To make them fall in some planned traps…
For example : TCI never promoted any independent creators ! But only some huge companies. Is that a very rebel (or rock’n’roll) attitude ? Not really.
Problem 2 :
On the recipe, we can see that TCI promotes drugs (cannabis for example) and this is clearly not okay.
Problem 3 :
Last element of the recipe, is that mostly, TCI shows a philosophy of “not giving a shit”… But while it play the rebel (or the capricious kid) it worship money, luxury etc… Where is the rebellion in that ? In one hand “Fuck the system” and in the other “I want my Louis Vuitton bag” !
