Labillugraph : Hello.
OJL : Four quick questions before getting to the heart of the matter.
As you live in Toulon, can you tell us what your coffee is there? And what do you like to take there?
Labillugraph : To be honest I rarely leave the house. And I’m more the type to frequent bars than cafes (laughs) ! Sometimes in summer I want to have breakfast in front of the sea. And “Le Petit Sud” is perfect for that.
OJL : And what is your favourite park or place in Toulon?
Labillugraph : This is going to sound super cliché coming from a southerner, but anything close to the sea (laughs). It is very effective for relaxing to walk near the coast (when there are not too many people !).
OJL : Next, what was the last book you read? And the last song you listened to?
Labillugraph : _About the book : the last book I finished was “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley.
_About the song : I most often listen to songs from the 60s/70s but the last song on my history was “Sacrilege” by yeah yeah yeahs.
OJL : Finally, do you have a quote and/or proverb that you like ?
Labillugraph : “The best is the enemy of the good” often comes to my mind when I work. I try not to spend forever on a detail… Who could spoil the whole thing !
OJL : Let’s talk a little about you now. How could you introduce yourself ?
Labillugraph : I am an illustrator and I have a small online store where I sell my creations. I love thinking about a product from A to Z and seeing the evolution from the design to the sale. It’s a very rewarding process, even more so when you get positive feedback from customers (big smile) !
OJL: Who are the artists who inspire you ? Who motivates you ?

OJL : How did you choose your pseudonym ?
Labillugraph : My nickname is the contraction of my last name, and my two main activities (Graphics, illustration). I thought the whole thing sounded pretty !
OJL : Let’s talk a little about your work now. How could you describe your activity ?
Labillugraph : My work revolves a lot around the words “cute” and “feminine”. Without really paying attention to it, this is what I always tend towards. In my illustrations we often find flowery female representations or small colorful characters (smile).
OJL : Are there any creations made entirely by hand ?
Labillugraph : Generally speaking, I am satisfied with the design and illustrations. I like to leave the impression to professionals in the field who can do exactly what I want with a high quality result. But the stickers without effect, the cards, the sword bookmarks and some prints are printed and cut out by my little hands (laughs) ! All the little decorations and packaging for orders are also made by me (smile).
OJL : There’s a little “Disney Princess” side on your creations, isn’t there ? It is very well done anyway.
Labillugraph : It’s very possible ! I have been immersed in Disney works since I was little, like 90% of young people of my generation, I think. Well, thank you, it makes me happy to succeed in transcribing this kind of nostalgia in my creations (smile).
OJL : What influences you the most when you create?
Labillugraph : I am very influenced by video games and cartoons, I think we can see that (smile) !
Moreover, I offer pins, prints, stickers, some downloadable files, etc… This type of product meets the expectations of customers who are fond of this type of universe (smile).
OJL : What video games do you like ?
Labillugraph : I love “The Witcher” game series, especially the third one. I also like games that are a little calmer (laughs), like “Animal Crossing” or even narrative games in general.
OJL: What are your latest news ?
Labillugraph : Recently I created bookmarks inspired by tarot cards. I love esoteric or religious iconographies. These atmospheres inspire and touch me.
OJL: Very interesting. What are your favourite cards in tarot ?
Labillugraph : My favourite cards are probably : The Sun, The Lover and The World. I love the elements that make them up and the variations that certain artists have made of them… Like Yoshi Yoshitani for example.
OJL : Do you have an anecdote about the creation of one of your products ? Or one of your sales ?
Labillugraph : The only thing I can think of is a little discussion at the very beginning of the opening of the online store. I received a very nice message full of compliments on my work. It was only when he asked me when a certain product would be restocked that I realized that the person was absolutely not talking about me and that he was confusing me with someone else (laughs).
OJL : Last question. Surely you have friends who are doing amazing things ! If you want to promote them a little, now is the time !
