It has been 2 years since the “pardon” of Saint Éloi could not be celebrated in Lillemer (Brittany) because of covid. The wait was therefore high.
A “pardon” is a Christian event. They are popular in Brittany.
As a reminder, Saint Éloi is the Patron Saint of all trades that use a hammer. But he is also prayed for the horses. And it is precisely, through a blessing from the equines, that this forgiveness began.
5:00 p.m.: Blessing of the horses
Despite the threatening weather, it was with a great joy that the riders had their superb mounts blessed.
6:00 p.m.: Service
The mass took place in the Saint Éloi church. The office was performed by Father Jean de la Villarmois and Father Yann-Tangi Kenec’hdu (RIP).
7:00 p.m.: Friendly drink & shared buffet
It is always a special moment to share a drink between Christians. And after such a long wait, this happiness was necessarily even greater. A real moment of conviviality around drinks offered by the municipality and around some delicious dishes brought by the faithful ones.
A beautiful and simple moment as our ancestors organized it.
8:00 p.m.: Guided tour
Mr. Kertanet gave us the pleasure of sharing with us his knowledges of the sacred symbolism of the churches. Thanks to him we learned more about the mysteries of the church of Saint Éloi in Lillemer.
8:30 p.m.: Praise
A feeling of unity now ran through the audience. And the songs were sung with great pleasure by the entire audience. Thanks to the lead singer with his guitar and all the equipment he brought. Great work.
At the end of the songs, we had the pleasure of contemplating an exceptional bust of Saint Éloi. Object from a private collection. A big thank-you for that privilege.
Conclusion :
A big thank you to the priests and all the teams for organizing this Saint Eloi “pardon” in Lillemer. A beautiful moment of fraternity and unity between Christians. A pure moment, which, I am sure, was appreciated by the Divine couple.
