When Jeremy Brett played Sherlock Holmes (1984-1994)

Jeremy Brett’s IMDB page: here

Jeremy Brett brilliantly played the unconventional Victorian detective in some exclusive episodes between 1984 and 1994 (shortly before his tragic death).

It seems that almost all of these films are available in French on YouTube : here

Cons :

Nothing to declare.

Pros :

This series is remarkable on many points :

_Jeremy Brett’s vampire makeup is very daring.

_The lines between Holmes and Watson, in the French version, are exquisite. They don’t say “Tu” in French but they say “Vous” (way more classy). This way the dialogues shine through Talleyrand’s language. What a work !

_The sets, the music, the editing etc… Everything show a lot of quality and taste.

Conclusion :

Exemplary acting and TW show. Definitely to be shown to the youngest.

Hats off to Mr Brett.
