There’s a French expression that says « c’est de l’orgueil mal placé » (it’s misplaced pride), which could be translated as “he misinvested his pride”.
Indeed, every human being has pride. Like a fire within us. I believe it’s impossible to live without pride. But the real question is : where do you place your pride?
If you place your pride (and therefore your money!) in the luxury brands emblazoned on your clothes… In my opinion, you’re making a mistake. The same goes for luxury cars… Just being interested in them is dangerous, in my opinion. The same again goes for drugs, alcohol, parties, trips to the ends of the earth, etc… These are, in my opinion, mistakes.
On the other hand, I think it’s worthwhile to invest your pride (and your money) discreetly in weapons, quality clothing, real estate (but with great caution!), lucky charms (like portraits of your ancestors or the plant called « crassula ovata« ), or a candle to thank Our Lady. These are just a few examples that immediately come to mind.
Think about it. What defines the success of two people with identical incomes is what they do in their free time and how they invest their money.
